14 arena hoists serviced where they hang
We serviced the arena's hoists in situ from an elevated work platform, so none had to leave site.
Nissan Arena in Brisbane runs on 14 hoists, and each one needs a compliant annual inspection. Our team serviced them where they hang, working from an elevated work platform, and load tested all 14 across visits in March and May 2026, issuing a certificate for each. Our records with the venue go back to 2020.
The challenge
The arena's hoists carry banners, lighting and LED screens over a floor that has events to host. Each one needs an annual inspection, a load test and a certificate to show for it. Taking them offsite would mean lowering them out of the rig, finding somewhere to test them and refitting them afterwards, with the arena's calendar still moving.
What we did
We took the work to the hoists. Our team used an elevated work platform to reach each one in place and went through the chain, gearbox, motor and brake, then the limits and E-stop response. A calculated test load was applied through the rig and recorded for every hoist. The work ran over two visits, in March and May 2026, under a safe work method statement written for working at height.
The result
All 14 hoists were load tested and each has its own certificate, typically valid for 12 months, so the venue holds a current record for every unit. Nothing left site, and the rig stayed where the crew expects it. The visit also adds another year to a service record we have kept with the arena since 2020, so each inspection starts from the last.
