Servicing maintains
the machine.

Hoist servicing is scheduled maintenance of electric chain hoists and stage motors: inspected against the manufacturer's published discard criteria, brake- and clutch-tested, lubricated, then returned with the paperwork to prove it. Load testing and Test & Tag are add-ons for when you need the certificate. We service hoists we sold and hoists we did not.

Why fleets stay with us

The due dates chase us, not you.

Fleets kept to interval

We track each unit's interval against its asset history and flag what is due before it lapses.

Between seasons

Service the kit in storage or at the depot between closing night and the next load-in, with load test and Test & Tag where the run needs certificates.

Tagged & provable

Add load testing and Test & Tag and each hoist is tested to a recorded figure, to AS/NZS 3760, with an individual certificate valid 12 months.

Feeds your register

Each hoist carries a persistent Asset ID.

What we check

What a hoist service covers.

Five checks, one method: the same on our bench, on your grid off an EWP, or in a depot. Load testing and Test & Tag are optional add-ons. Every figure recorded, every unit tracked, nothing signed off on a glance.

  1. Check 01

    Thorough inspection to discard criteria

    Cleaned and measured: chain wear gauged, hook and safety latch checked, gearbox and body checked against the manufacturer's published limits. Load chain lubricated in the same pass.

  2. Check 02

    Brake & clutch function test

    Brake hold, clutch behaviour, upper and lower limits and E-stop response proven under power. The parts that have to hold are the parts we test hardest.

  3. Check 03 Optional add-on

    Load test

    A calculated test load applied and held through our inline test equipment (no test mass in most cases). Minimum required, maximum applied and held-at figures recorded against rated capacity.

  4. Check 04 Optional add-on

    Electrical Test & Tag

    In-service electrical testing to AS/NZS 3760, dated tag fitted. Mechanical and electrical in the same pass.

  5. Check 05

    Report, tag & register update

    Graded findings with actions and timeframes, a 12-month certificate per load-tested hoist, and the unit's Asset ID updated.

At least annually. Manufacturers and the governing standards require it, and where manufacturer guidance is unclear we work to the relevant Australian Standard, including AS 1418 and AS 2550. Hoists on heavy duty cycles need shorter intervals, so follow the manufacturer's schedule for your model. A service programme tracks every unit's interval.
Yes. We service electric chain hoists wherever they were bought, working to the manufacturer's published discard criteria for each model, with load testing and Test & Tag added where you need them. If a unit needs parts or repair, we state what and why, with a recommended action and timeframe.
Both. Freight gear to our workshop for bench servicing and repair, or we come to it: in place off an EWP at venues, or in storage between seasons for touring packages. The method is the same; only the location changes.
A graded finding for every unit: a compliance result, a condition grade against published discard criteria, and a recommended action with a timeframe. Each load-tested hoist also gets an individual certificate valid for 12 months recording serial, model, rated capacity and the load-test figures. Its Asset ID is updated so history builds year on year.
It is tagged Out of Service and stays out until rectified. The report states the defect against the standard, with the recommended action (repair, replace or remove from service) and timeframe. Minor items are rectified during the visit, so most units return to service the same day.
Servicing maintains the machine; inspection certifies it. Servicing covers inspection, brakes, lubrication and repairs for hoists you own. A venue's installed hoists are recertified under annual inspections; owned or touring kit gets its certificate through Hoist Service. Most owners run both on one programme.
