Freight the gear to us for bench servicing, repairs and testing - it comes back serviced and thoroughly inspected, ready to go straight back to work.

We service hoisting assets in place, off an EWP, so your kit never leaves the building and your programme never stops. Nissan Arena and Citipointe Church run theirs this way.

On the road, between seasons

Touring packages serviced in storage or at the freight depot, proven and tagged before the next load-in - the window between closing night and the next city, used properly.

We service what we sold and what we didn't - same thorough inspection, same discard criteria, same paperwork. And when what you need is the certificate rather than the maintenance - load test, Test & Tag and a 12-month cert for owned or touring kit - that is Hoist Service under Compliance & Service.

What hoist servicing is

Servicing maintains
the machine.

Hoist servicing is the scheduled maintenance of electric chain hoists and stage motors - thoroughly inspected against the manufacturer's published discard criteria, brake- and clutch-tested and lubricated, with load testing and Test & Tag added when you need the certificate - then returned to work with the paperwork to prove it. TSA services hoists you bought from us and hoists you did not - in our workshop, on-site at your venue, or between seasons for touring kit.

Servicing maintains the machine; inspection certifies it. This page is the maintenance side: thorough inspection, brakes and clutches, chain lubrication, repairs, a fleet kept to interval. If you need the certificate product for owned or touring kit, that is Hoist Service under Compliance & Service; a venue's installed hoists are typically recertified in place under annual inspections. Most owners run both on one programme.

A hoist that is serviced to interval holds its rated capacity, its serviceability and its certificate; one that is not becomes the fault you find in production week. We keep your fleet on the right side of that line - every unit carries a persistent Asset ID, and every service writes its grades, rectifications and major-service-due dates into your asset register, year on year. The chain hoists and pile hoists we supply are serviced by the same technicians - and so is the rest of what hangs over your stage.

What we check

What a hoist service covers.

Five checks, one method - the same whether the hoist is on our bench, on your grid off an EWP, or in a depot between seasons. Load testing and Test & Tag are optional add-ons, taken when you need the certificate. Every figure recorded, every unit tracked, nothing signed off on a glance.

  1. Check 01

    Thorough inspection to discard criteria

    Each hoist is cleaned, measured and thoroughly inspected - chain wear gauged, hook and safety latch checked, gearbox and body checked against the manufacturer's published limits. The load chain is lubricated as part of the service, which also feeds the internal drive gear.

  2. Check 02

    Brake & clutch function test

    Brake hold, clutch behaviour, upper and lower limits and E-stop response are proven under power - the parts of a hoist that have to hold are the parts we test hardest.

  3. Check 03 Optional add-on

    Load test

    A calculated test load is applied and held through our purpose-built inline test equipment - no test mass in most cases - with the minimum required, maximum applied and held-at figures recorded against the hoist's rated capacity.

  4. Check 04 Optional add-on

    Electrical Test & Tag

    In-service electrical testing to AS/NZS 3760, with a dated compliance tag fitted to every unit tested - mechanical and electrical done in the same pass.

  5. Check 05

    Report, tag & register update

    Graded findings with recommended actions and timeframes, an individual 12-month certificate per load-tested hoist, and the unit's persistent Asset ID updated so its history tracks year on year.

The method follows the machine, not the badge - the EXE Rise chain hoists we stock are serviced by the same technicians who carry out rigging installation. Running pile wind hoists on your curtains and scenery as well? The same crew services them on the same visit - one programme, chain and pile together. Test & Tag detail sits under electrical testing, every finding lands in your asset register, and when the whole venue is due at once, the Service & Inspection Programme runs it as one visit.

At least annually - annual inspection is required by manufacturers and the governing standards, and where manufacturer guidance is unclear TSA works to the relevant Australian Standard, including AS 1418 and AS 2550. Hoists on heavy duty cycles need shorter intervals, so follow the manufacturer's schedule for your specific model. A service programme keeps every unit's interval tracked, so nothing runs past its due date.
Yes. We service electric chain hoists regardless of where they were bought - with load testing and Test & Tag added where you need them - working to the manufacturer's published discard criteria for each model. If a unit needs parts or repair beyond the service visit, we state exactly what and why, with a recommended action and timeframe.
Both. Gear can be freighted to our workshop for bench servicing and repair, or we come to it - our technicians service hoisting assets in place off an EWP at venues, and touring packages are serviced in storage between seasons. The method is the same wherever the work happens; only the location changes.
A graded finding for every unit: a compliance result, a condition grade against published discard criteria, and a recommended action with a timeframe. Each load-tested hoist also receives an individual certificate valid for 12 months, recording its serial, model, rated capacity and the load-test figures. Every unit's persistent Asset ID is updated, so its service history builds year on year.
It is tagged Out of Service and does not go back to work until rectified. The report states the defect against the standard, plus the recommended action - repair, replace or remove from service - and the timeframe. Minor items are rectified during the visit and recorded, so most units come back into service the same day.
