What we build

Carpentry to circuitry.
One workshop.

A creative workshop, not a commodity fabricator: five trades under one roof, so the build, the movement and the finish are coordinated, not handed between shops.

How it's made

From drawing to bump-in, under one roof.

Six stages, all run by our own crew in the workshop.

  1. Two people reviewing a scenic drawing on a white wall in the workshop.

    Drawing and engineering

A structured path from concept through to fabrication readiness, with drafting, engineering coordination and documentation at each step.

  2. A welder in full PPE fabricating a curved blue steel frame on the workshop floor.

    Steel and aluminium

Welding, turning and machining in steel and aluminium: structural frames and precision components made on our own floor, with CNC-machined parts that fit first time.

  3. Plywood and timber scenic units under construction in the scenic workshop, with a drawing on the bench.

    Carpentry

Flats, stands and bases through to full stage construction, built in timber alongside the metalwork.

  4. Crew hand-painting cobblestone deck tiles on the workshop floor.

    Scenic finish

Blocking, wood-graining and gold-leaf on canvas, timber, metal and polystyrene, finished for audiences near enough to see the grain.

  5. A crew member fitting electronics into an ornate black ironwork scenic piece in the workshop.

    Set electrics

DMX control, LED and lighting, pneumatics and power distribution, built into the set rather than bolted on after.

  6. Crew on ladders installing an ornate proscenium arch on stage.

    Handover for bump-in

Scenic elements arrive ready for the bump-in, with rigging and soft goods available around them through the TSA group.

What Set Construction does for your show

Four jobs, one build.

Build a set that moves

Scenery engineered to your automation and rigging - tracked wagons, raked and multi-carriage show decks, actor and scenery lifts.

Survive a national tour

Construction engineered for repeatability, transport efficiency and rapid deployment, venue after venue - touring is where our track record runs deepest.

Hold up over a long run

Duty-cycle detailing, serviceable access and finishes that last past opening night in a permanent or long-run install.

Precision scenic finishes for audiences near enough to see the grain - built by a creative workshop, not a commodity shop.

What you get

A set you can
load in, and tour.

Full sets and scenery in timber, steel, aluminium and composite - flats, stands and bases through to tracked wagons, raked show decks, actor and scenery lifts and large suspended portals - with scenic painting, sculpting and set electrics, all in-house. Through Show Works, the same workshop group also fabricates museum and gallery fit-outs, exhibitions and interactives.
Yes. Scenery is engineered to work with your automation and rigging - tracked and castored wagons, multi-carriage decks, lifts and show-controlled practical effects built into the set. For whole-show motion control and technical design, we work with TSA's Production Engineering team.
Yes - touring is where our track record runs deepest. Builds are engineered for repeatability, transport efficiency and rapid deployment across venues, and finished to survive a high-cycle run.
Timber, steel, aluminium and composite are the day-to-day four, and we work in others where the design calls for it. CNC design and fabrication cover the precision components - a workshop that can weld, turn and machine in-house, not a single-material joinery shop.
