In-house manufacturing

Stock never fits.
We make yours.

The house curtain is faded. The blacks have tide-marks. The legs sit short of the fly bar. Off-the-shelf soft goods will not solve any of it, and guesswork on sizing eats your contingency.

So tell us the space, the spec and the budget. We design, manufacture and install custom stage curtains and bespoke soft goods end-to-end in our in-house workshop - the home of Reveal Drapes since 2001 - flame retarded to AS 1530 standards, with the certification supplied. One accountable team, from brief to handover. It is one part of the full Drapes & Accessories range.

  4. Step 04

    FR-certify & QC

Flame retarded to AS 1530 standards, inspected and certified before it leaves the floor.

  5. Step 05

    Install

On-site fit-out, full run-cycle test and a documentation pack. One accountable team, handed over.

What we make

Choosing the right
stage drapes.

Not all theatre fabrics, fire ratings and drape types are the same. Here is a practical guide to the most common soft goods we manufacture, the cloth they are typically made from and the factors that affect performance, compliance and lead time.

What do IFR / DFR / NDFR mean?

FR ratings explained: IFR is built into the fibre and permanent. DFR is a durable treatment that withstands a number of washes before retreatment is required. NDFR relies on a surface treatment that can degrade over time and with exposure to moisture. Every drape manufactured by Theatre Safe Australia is flame retarded to AS 1530 standards and certified before delivery.

House curtains & valances

The cloth the audience sees.

The front curtain sets the tone for every performance. Whether you are looking for traditional velvet theatre tabs, modern wool serge drapes, swags, valances or reveals, we manufacture front-of-house curtains to suit your venue and aesthetic. Choose from a wide range of fabrics, colours and finishes, with manual or motorised track systems to match the way your venue operates.

Stage masking · IFR

Legs, borders and tabs that vanish.

Matte wool serge masking sets cut to the grid - legs, borders, tabs, travellers and smothers that soak up stray light and read as a true black from the seats. The workhorse of the rig, and inherently flame retardant, so the rating never lapses.

Scenic & backdrops

Scrims, cycs and printed drops.

Create the scene. Change the space. From small backdrops through to full-stage scenic drops, we manufacture curtains and scenic fabrics that help transform a venue. Whether you need a projection surface, a clean lighting backdrop, a reveal effect or custom-printed artwork, we can produce a solution sized to suit your stage and performance requirements.

Restoration & bespoke

Re-made, re-treated, re-certified.

When curtains start showing their age, replacement is not always the only option. We help venues extend the life of heritage curtains, worn velvets and existing stage drapes through restoration, repair and FR recertification. For unique spaces and unusual requirements, we also manufacture bespoke soft goods tailored to the venue and application.

In-house in our soft-goods workshop. Same machinists, same workshop, now built for the scale of TSA. Every drape is cut, stitched and finished on-site before it leaves the floor.
Yes. Every drape we manufacture is flame retarded to AS 1530 standards, with a treatment certificate issued for insurance and audit. We work in both inherently FR fabrics (velvet, wool serge) and durable FR-treated fabrics depending on the application.
Lead time depends on scope, fabric availability and the FR treatment cycle. A standard masking set runs 4-6 weeks. Larger house curtains with custom finishes and motorised track integration sit closer to 8-10 weeks. We confirm dates in the quote.
Yes. Our installers fit out the drapes on-site, test the run cycle and hand over the documentation pack - FR certification, hardware spec and maintenance recommendations. One accountable team, end-to-end.
Yes. Hire stock comes out of the same workshop and is certified to the same standard. If your timeline does not allow a custom build, start with Drape Hire and we will talk about a permanent set in parallel.
