How we spec it

Specified to the room,
not the catalogue.

A barre is equipment that takes real load. We match the format to how the room is used - floor, wall or freestanding - work out the rail height and spacing, then make and finish it in Australia. Tell us the wall run and the dancers, and we come back with the layout.

Made in Australia

A barre takes real load,
every class, for years.

Dancers pull, press and stretch against the barre hour after hour. A barre that flexes, works loose or splinters is not a finish detail - it is a piece of equipment that has to hold. The wood has to feel right in the hand, and the bracket behind it has to take the load without question.

We make our ballet barres ourselves, in Australia, and supply them Australia wide. The frames and brackets are powdercoated steel in black or white, and the rail is 43 mm Tasmanian Oak, triple-sanded and finished with three coats of Danish oil. Every bracket is load-tested and exceeds the Australian standard. They are one part of the full Dance & Studio Equipment range. The barres still carry the Show Works name and are now made by Theatre Safe Australia; the range is also listed on the Show Works ballet barres page.

The four formats

One rail,
four ways to mount it.

Every barre shares the same build - powdercoated steel and a 43 mm Tasmanian Oak rail, with every bracket load-tested. What changes is how it mounts, and that is what you match to the room: a wall to fix to, floor space to stand on, or a portable that moves with the class.

The build, defined once: powdercoated steel frames and brackets in black or white, a 43 mm Tasmanian Oak rail that is triple-sanded and finished with three coats of Danish oil. Single rails sit at 1050 mm; the lower rail on a double sits at 870 mm. Every bracket is load-tested and exceeds the Australian standard.

Floor-mounted · Single or double

Stands where there is no wall.

A floor-fixed barre in single or double-rail, for the centre of a room or a wall you cannot drill into. The steel frame is powdercoated black or white and the rail is 43 mm Tasmanian Oak. Single rails sit at 1050 mm; a double adds a lower rail at 870 mm for younger dancers.

Wall-mounted · Single or double

Fixed clean along the wall.

The most common studio fit: brackets fixed to the wall in single or double-rail, spaced 1.2 to 1.8 m apart along the run. Pairs neatly under a mirror, with brackets that can be set out around wall features. Same powdercoated steel and 43 mm Tasmanian Oak rail.

Studio portable · Freestanding

Moves where the class needs it.

A freestanding barre on a stable double-barrel base, height-adjustable from 700 to 1050 mm and taking up to four dancers. It rolls into place for barre work and out of the way for open floor, so one room does two jobs without a fixed install.

Home portable · Compact

The same rail, at home.

A compact portable barre for practice between classes, carrying the same 43 mm Tasmanian Oak rail and powdercoated steel frame as the studio range. Light enough to move and put away, built to the same load-tested standard as the rest.

The studio portable runs on a stable double-barrel base, is height-adjustable from 700 to 1050 mm, and takes up to four dancers. It moves where the class needs it, then rolls out of the way, so one room can switch between barre work and open floor without a fixed install.
Yes. Every bracket is load-tested and exceeds the Australian standard, so the barre holds up to the stretch and resistance work dancers put through it, day after day.
