Spot bars and plug boxes for a new Brisbane venue
Technical fit-out for a new performing arts venue, delivered through Diversified Australia.
Diversified Australia brought us in for the technical fit-out of a new performing arts venue in Brisbane, with QPAC as the end client. Our team drew, supplied and installed the spot bars, lighting bars and plug boxes.
The challenge
In a new venue, lighting positions have to be right before any show can be rigged. Every bar and plug box has to land correctly in the fly tower and the side technical galleries, and the building programme leaves little room to correct a mistake at height. Diversified needed one team to draw the system, supply it and fit it.
What we did
Our drafting office produced a 3D general arrangement for the bars. The plug box drawings were issued to the client for sign-off, and each plug box is numbered so it can be traced between the drawing and the building. Our installers then worked at height in the fly tower and the side galleries, fitting the spot bars, lighting bars and plug boxes to the drawn positions.
The result
The venue's spot bars, lighting bars and numbered plug boxes are installed to drawings that came from the same team that fitted them, so the paperwork matches what hangs in the building. That helps the venue's crew and any visiting designer know what is where, and it gives the end client a technical fit-out with a clear drawing trail behind it.
