A safety retrofit, designed and coordinated in-house
Our team designed the retrofit of an added safety device for the university venue's rigging and coordinated the install.
Central Queensland University asked us to add a safety device to the rigging system in its venue. Our team designed the retrofit to suit the existing equipment and coordinated the installation with the university, leaving the upgrade documented for the venue's records. It is the kind of upgrade a venue makes when it takes its due diligence seriously.
The challenge
The university wanted more protection built into the rigging system in its venue, and that system was already in service. A retrofit has to suit equipment designed and installed years earlier, and it must not disturb what already works. The venue needed one party to design the upgrade, manage the install and leave the paperwork behind.
What we did
Our team began with the system as it stands: how it is built, how it is operated and where a new device could sit. We designed the retrofit in-house so it suited that equipment, rather than forcing a standard part onto it. We then coordinated the installation with the university, so the venue knew when work was happening and what would change. The design and install were documented as evidence of due diligence.
The result
The venue's rigging system now carries an added safety device, designed for it and installed as one coordinated job. The university keeps what it already had and gains the extra protection. It is also a clear entry in the venue's due diligence record: a decision the university made, with the design and installation paperwork behind it.
