Crossroads Live
TSA supplied the flying rigging for the Australian production - around 50 EXE Rise chain hoists on Atlas control and power distribution, in-house-manufactured lifting slings and rigging hardware - then re-rigged and inspected the kit city to city: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
Crossroads Live
A West End musical arriving in Australia needed a flying-rigging package that could hang its flown pieces safely, repeat night after night, and re-rig the same way in four cities.
TSA supplied the chain-hoist package - around 50 EXE Rise hoists, Atlas control and power distribution, in-house-made lifting slings and rigging hardware - with transfer riggers on each load-in and annual hoist inspection on tour.
Four cities. One rigging package. One number to call.
Back to the Future - The Musical flies a lot of weight over its cast. Facades and set pieces move in and out on cue, eight shows a week, with performers working underneath. Every flown point has to be rated, certified and repeatable - and then it all has to travel and do the same job in the next theatre.
Crossroads Live needed a flying-rigging package for the Australian production that would hang the show safely, prove out fast, then pack down, travel and re-rig the same way in each house. Get the hoists, control and slings from one supplier who stands behind the kit, and the bump-in stays clean city to city.
That is TSA's kit. Hoists, control, power distribution, lifting slings and hardware - specified, supplied and inspected as one package.
TSA specified the flying-rigging package for the Australian production - around 50 EXE Rise chain hoists, split 35 at 0.5t and 15 at 1t, plus spares. They run on TSA Atlas Pro and Basic control, with their own power distribution and motor-control looms. Every hoist and lead was numbered and packed to travel as one kit.
The flown pieces hang on flexible steel-wire-rope slings, each one manufactured and serial-tagged in the TSA workshop for a rated, certified suspension. The kit ships with 2t soft-steel slings, bow shackles, Hercules master rings and STAC chain, so the crew rigs the same points the same way in every house.
TSA's transfer riggers work each load-in, hanging and proving the kit in every venue, then packing it back into freight for the next city. Once a year the hoists come back for onsite mechanical inspection on the tour, so the flying gear stays rated and certified from Sydney through Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
Back to the Future opened at the Sydney Lyric Theatre in October 2025 flying on TSA's rigging package - around 50 EXE Rise hoists, Atlas control and power distribution, and in-house-made lifting slings. The flown pieces repeat to the millimetre, and the same kit carries the tour.
From Sydney the production moves to Her Majesty's Theatre Melbourne, then QPAC in Brisbane and Crown Theatre Perth, re-rigging the same way in each house. One supplier stands behind the flying rigging, with transfer riggers on the load-ins and annual inspection on tour - so there is one number to call when a national tour is on the line.
